The Cleveland Cavaliers fantastic start to the 2024/2025 season of the NBA continued on Friday night with a resounding victory over former champions Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors finally came alive in the third quarter with a much improved shoot selection and shooting.
The 2016 champions had 73% from the 2-points field goals but struggled from deep as they made just 35% of their 3-points field goals.
The Cavs defeated the Warriors 136-117 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to extend their unbeaten run to 10.
Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Ty Jerome combined for 87 points as the Cavs earned a 19 point win over the Warriors.
Cleveland center Jarett Allen had an outstanding performance with a double double as scored 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cavs were completely outstanding in the first half as they outplayed and outscored the Warriors by 41 points.
The 2015 champions were devastating beyond the arc as they made 7 of their 10 3-points attempts in the first quarter while the Warriors only had 2 from 9.
The Cavs continued to punish the visitors with their shooting in the second quarter. They recorded 69% from 2-points field goals, 58% from deep while the Warriors had just 41% and 40% respectively.
The final quarter was quite keenly contested unlike the previous three which were one-sided.
The Warriors outscored the home side by 10 points but the huge deficit of the first half came to play as the Warriors lost by 19 points.
The Cavs are now the first team to go 10-0 up in the NBA since the 2015/2016 Golden State Warriors.
Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson also becomes the first coach to go on a 10-0 in his first year with a new team.
