Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has hit back at reports claiming he refused to leave the Wolves training pitch this week, calling much of the coverage inaccurate.
The Super Eagles striker took to X on Wednesday to address the swirling claims, which alleged he defied new manager Cesar Peixoto’s instructions not to train with the first team, forcing Wolves to scrap Monday’s session altogether. Reports also claimed the club deployed extra security at Compton Park the following day to keep him away from the facility.
Arokodare pushed back hard against that narrative. He said he was “very surprised and disappointed” by the reports, adding that he has always prided himself on conducting himself professionally and holding himself to high training standards.
The striker insisted his focus has never wavered from doing his job. He explained that his commitment has always been to prepare himself properly so he can contribute to his teammates whenever called upon.
He also moved to shut down speculation about his commitment to the club, stressing he remains under contract and simply wants to fulfil his responsibilities by training and doing his job as his deal requires.
The clarification comes as Arokodare’s Molineux future hangs in the balance following Wolves’ relegation to the Championship. Interest has piled in from multiple directions, with Trabzonspor, Fiorentina, Genoa, and now Ajax all linked with the 25-year-old this summer.
Whether his statement cools tensions with the Wolves hierarchy remains to be seen, but it’s clear Arokodare wants his side of the story on record as the transfer saga drags on.
