In a bid to deliver one of the dividends of democracy to his people, an Anambra lawmaker deemed it fit and remarkable to distributes cassava stems to his constituency members.
It was gathered that Honourable Patrick Obalim-Udoba shared a truckload of cassava stems to his people recently to help them start early farming.
As expected his gesture to his community members who presumably are predominantly farmers has generated a handful of reactions on Twitter.
While some criticised the lawmaker, others believe his gesture is not exactly bad if only the stems are hybrid.

Distribution of stem at this time of the year? Off the mic…….We should be stoning people who come with foolish assistance or empowerment gesture just to take pictures and other propaganda motives….Hon. you can do more for the farmers

Me 🤔, Others are giving their people tractors and farming items that run into millions to do their farming, this stems could be easily be gotten from their follow farmers and they would gladly give out to who doesn't have it. Maybe they used these little

Is it specially modified stems (hybrid) for greater productivity? If yes, good. But the showmanship is still not necessary.

Let's be honest with ourselves, this isn't as bad as it seems, remember Nigerians shouldn't expect food from the north next year at the rate insurgence is playing out. If "we" don't want to starve to death next year, state governments should start looking into things like this.

It might be a hybrid stem, desisease resistant, early maturity, enhanced yield during harvest… If it is then let's commend the honorable, but if it's the normal stem then the act is shameful..
