President Buhari’s spokesperson, Mr Femi Adesina has revealed the Pigeons which symbolise peace, refused to fly when the President released them from the cage on #ArmedForcesRemembranceDay held on the 15th of January.
The refusal of the Pigeons to fly out from the cage attracted a handful of reactions from social media users as many beloved that they refused to fly in disregard for President Buhari’s administration.
Others argued that the pigeons didn’t fly because of the lack of peace that has characterised President Buhari’s administration especially with the spate of kidnappings, armed banditry, terrorism among other criminal activities.
However, Mr Femi Adesina in a recent article he titled, Reflections from a Wreath Laying Ceremony argued that the pigeons refused to fly because they have gotten so used to the cage such that when President Buhari released them, they thought “it was too good to be true.”
He added that it is a natural phenomenon for pigeons not to fly sometimes.
The pigeons had been kept in a cage. For how long, I do not know. And When birds and some other roaming animals have been circumscribed for a while, they get accustomed to their new status as lawful captives. Therefore, when you offer them freedom, they first baulk, thinking it’s too good to be true. It is a natural phenomenon
He also took a dig at social media users who be described as “Idle and Indolent” for making a big deal out of the incident.
But not to the idle and indolent, most of who populate the social media. It was time to major in something minor, cavil and find fault unnecessarily.
The #ArmedForcesRemembranceDay is held every 15th of January in commemoration of servicemen who have died in the course of serving the country.
