Dark days ahead: Why insecurity will only get worse in Nigeria
Insecurity in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is at an all-time high due to various reasons. However, things are only going to get worse in terms of security, and here is why we should all be prepared for the dark days ahead.
1 Muhammadu Buhari
The President Muhammadu Buhari administration started off their campaign for the 2015 election on a lot of promises but mostly on improved security.
That has not been the case and following the incidents of the protests to end the horrors of the Special anti-robbery squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) it shows that this administration will do nothing to improve the situation.
Miyetti Allah
The conjunction of cattle rearers has become a menace and given the fact that they come from the same Fulani tribe as the president, they are emboldened to commit several despicable horrors based on feeding their animals.
Boko Haram
The Boko Haram insurgents have not been declared as a terrorist group by the federal government and until that is done no significant progress will be made in the war against them by the Nigerian military.
Bandits
Another ingredient is the emergence of bandits Given the shallow security availability by the Nigerian Police Force which is a spillover from lack of protection in forest concentrated areas.
IPOB and Yoruba Nation
The need for secession by the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) as well as those calling for the Yoruba Nation will surely incite inter-tribal clashes and also confrontation against the authority which will worsen the security challenges in the country.
