Linda, the ex-Dancin’ On Air star’s younger sister, was involved in a near-fatal car accident in 1999. When a drunk driver hit her after running a red light, she was eight months pregnant with her police officer fiance.
Ripa was running errands in Northeast Philadelphia. Some random drunkard hit her with his minivan while she was waiting to turn at a traffic light.
She immediately suffered dozens of crushed and shattered bones, as well as a broken pelvis, which resulted in her unborn baby, Sergio-Giuseppe, going into a coma.
Linda felt fear and pain for several weeks after that.
Ms. Ripa, on the other hand, refused to be sedated when she had leg surgery three days after the accident. She did this out of concern that the drugs would harm her unborn child.
