Ademola Lookman has been named as the new CAF Men’s Player on the Year for 2024 as he dethrones his Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen from the throne.
The Super Eagles forward beat Achraf Hakimi, Rowen Williams, Simon Adingra, and Serhou Guirassy to win the prestigious award.
Lookman wrapped up an exceptional 2024 for both club and country to win the most coveted price on the continent.
The 27-year-old forward stepped on to the stage in a colorful and shiny green traditional “Agbada” attire and a green cap.
He also adorned his neck and hands with black beads as he caught the attention of the audience while he received the award.
Lookman thanked Nigerians in Youruba language on receiving the award.
He said;
“Ekale, Ese pupo, Modupe” which translates as “Good evening, thank you very much, I am grateful.”
In his acceptance speech, Lookman advices young kids to turn their failures and disappointments into power to fuel them to greater heights.
Ademola Lookman was impeccable for Atalanta as he lead them to their first European trophy in May.
The winger bagged a hat trick in the final against Bayern Leverkusen becoming the first player to do so in the history of the competitions..
He also had a brilliant outing with the Super Eagles as he scored 3 goals and an assist en route to the final of the competition.
