Barcelona will regret selling Suarez to Atletico Madrid – Rivaldo
Brazilian icon Rivaldo has become the latest in a string of Barcelona legends to blast the club’s decision to let Luis Suarez let Camp Nou.
The Uruguayan scored 198 goals for Barca and helped Barcelona win the treble in 2015 while playing alongside Messi and Neymar.
Both teammates have since slammed the club for throwing out Suarez, while Rivaldo is concerned letting the 33-year old join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid will quickly comeback to haunt his former side.
“Luis Suarez has made an excellent choice signing for Atletico Madrid. I wanted him to stay at Barcelona and felt he had a lot to offer. But Ronald Koeman made it clear he was surplus to requirements and he has joined a club where he will be appreciated.
“I hope that things work out well for Suarez at Atleti because I’m a big fan of the player that shouldn’t have left Barcelona. He is the third best goalscorer in the club’s history and I can only see his age as a reason for the Club’s decision to let him go.
“He’s a great fighter and he has signed for the perfect club. I’m sure Simeone is delighted to have him in his squad. The Argentine boss will be a fan of SUAREZ’S qualities that perfectly suit Simeone’s type of play.
“Suarez is a great signing for Atletico. A terrific goalscorer, a big fighter and a player of huge experience in huge games”.
Suarez joined Atletico Madrid on Wednesday for a bargain price of just €6million after six trophy-laden years in Barcelona.
