Bendel Insurance share points with Enyimba, remain unbeaten at NPFL Super Six

Bendel Insurance

Bendel Insurance are proving to be a very difficult opponent in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League Super Six competition. The Benin-based club side forced former league champions Enyimba to a one-all draw as they remain unbeaten in the competition after three games.

From the blast of the whistle, Bendel Insurance dominated the game as they created a good number of chances in the opening quarter of the match but failed to convert any of them. However, Enyimba, coached by former Super Eagles midfielder, Finidi George took the lead against the run of play.

Sadiq Abubakar gave the Aba-based club the lead in the 24th minute in what should be considered one of the best goals of the competition.

Enyimba’s lead lasted for only a quarter of an hour as Divine Nwanchukwu restored parity for Bendel Insurance in the 37th minute. Mark Odigie’s side could have taken the lead before half-time but Enyimba’s goalie, Olorunleke Ojo made a brilliant save to deny them the lead as the pulsating first half came to an end.

The second half was keenly contested by both sides but none of them was able to take the lead or secure all three points. Olorunleke Ojo was called into action again as he kept Enyimba in the game.

Enyimba had a penalty appeal denied in the last quarter of the game as Bendel Insurance held on to their precious point as they stretch their unbeaten run in the league to 21 matches.

Enyimba are currently top of the standings with 5 points after three games.
