#NPFLSuperSix: Remo Stars winless after three Matches as Lobi Stars v Rivers United end in stalemate

Despite being regarded as one of the most enterprising teams in the league, Remo Stars are still searching for their first win at the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League tournament in Lagos.

The Ogun State-based team were held to a one-all draw by Sunshine Shine Stars who came into the match on the back losing to defending champions, Rivers United, and a draw against Bendel Insurance who are unbeaten in 21 games in the league this season.

Samuel Anakwe gave Remp Stars the lead in the first quarter of the match as he slots the ball into the net from a routine free-kick. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side dominated proceedings for a larger spell of the first half and they almost doubled their lead on the half-hour mark but goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal parried Dayo Ojo’s shot away from goal.

Sunshine Stars came alive in the second half as they scored immediately after the restart. Lucky Gyang headed the ball into the net from a well-placed cross to restore parity.

Both contested keenly for maximum points in the second half but neither side could pull through as the game ended in a one-all draw which makes their chances of winning the title slim.

The stars of both teams have not shined brightly so far at the tournament as both are winless after three games. Remo Stars are third on the log with three points while Sunshine Stars are second from bottom with 2 points.

Remo Sras will take on Lobi Stars on the 9th of June while Sunshine Stars will play Enyimba on the same day.

In the last match of the day, Rivers United played out a goalless draw against Lobi Stars as they level on points with Enyimba who are currently leading the log on goal difference. Lobi Stars are bottom of the log with 2 points.

Rivers United will Bendel Insurance next while Lobi Stars take on Remo Stars.
