Chukwueze clinched the award after he scored the most votes from 26 journalists and 30,000 fans who participated in the voting process. The Nigerian winger had a brilliant season, especially with the arrival of former Barcelona manager Quique Setien who choose him as his first choice on the left flank.
The former Golden Eaglets star provided six and six assists in 37 games for the Yellow Submarines. One of his most outstanding performances came in the game against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu where he scored twice in a famous 3-2 win over the former champions.
Chukwueze joins the likes of Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, and kelechi Iheanacho who won individual accolades for their respective clubs this season.
Chukwueze on Real Madrid’s radar
With the departure of Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz, Karim Benzema, and Eden Hazard, Real Madrid will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and Samuel Chuhwueze has reportedly attracted the interest of the Santiago Bernabeau hierarchy, especially after his remarkable performance against them.
Samuel Chukwueze scored seven times and provided six assists in the Europa League and Copa Sel Rey this season. with his outstanding performance, it is quite unlikely Villareal let go of him except if Real Madrid offers a huge amount for him. (Of course, that is needless to say).
