Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team D’Tigers are within the reach of qualifying for the 2025 Afrobasket.
D’Tigers put up a spirited fourth quarter performance to overpower Uganda on Saturday evening.
Caleb Agada and Ike Nwamu combined for 38 points as the D’Tigers blow out Uganda by 20 points at the Tripoli Great Hall.
D’Tigers like the first match against Libya struggled in the first two quarters as they fell to a 16-12 and 18-16 loss.
The team however reduced their turnovers by six unlike the first match where they turned away possession 18 times.
D’Tigers made the most of their three-point shooting in the third quarter as they closed the gap on the Ugandans.
The fourth quarter made the differenceon the night as D’Tigers outscored Uganda 32-8.
D’Tigers wrapped up the match with a 87-67 win as they stay within the reach of qualifying for Afrobasket 2025 with a 2-3 series score.
A win over Cape Verde on Sunday will more or less put the D’Tigers in prime position of qualifying for the tournament.
