Germany had their revenge against Argentina with a 1-0 win to win the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy.
In 2014, the game was closely contested with Germany shutting down Lionel Messi.
The game ended without a goal at the end of 90 minutes and proceeded to extra-time.
With the game seemingly expected to go to extra time, Mario Götze found the breakthrough in the 113th minute.
Germany would hold on to be champions in front of 74,738 fans in attendance at the Estádio do Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro.
