Gernot Rohr explains why Super Eagles could not beat Sierra Leone for the 2nd time
The Super Eagles of Nigeria played out a 0-0 draw against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in their matchday four Group L 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Tuesday, November 17th.
Nigeria and Sierra Leone played out a 4-4 draw on Friday, November 13th.
The Super Eagles led that game by four goals but somehow Sierra Leone came back to snatch a draw.
The Super Eagles were expected to put in a better performance in the return leg but ended in a goalless draw.
The head coach of the Super Eagles has faced criticism for picking up just two points from six.
However speaking after the game, Rohr explained the reason for dropping points in the second leg.
He said, “The Team did well especially our goalkeeper he had a very good match. Last time he conceded four goals which was not his fault and today he showed everyone what he can do.
“Our defence did well but the pitch is very difficult to play good football and they were playing long balls.
“The points means we stay top of our group and I believe we are in the right direction.”
