Luis Enrique admitted that the issue is quite sensitive but no player is bigger than the club, not even Lionel Messi who he once coached between 2014 and 2017.
Lionel Messi rescinded his decision to leave the club last week as he said he did it because he didn’t want to go into legal warfare with his boyhood club.
Luis Enrique said;
It’s a sensitive issue.Â
I think clubs are above every player. Barcelona was founded in 1899 and is one of the best in the world, it has won titles forever.
Clearly there has been a wonderful relationship. Leo has made Barca grow exponentially but I would have liked it a lot more if an agreement had been reached.
He also added that Lionel Messi will leave the club eventually and Barcelona will continue to win trophies.
Sooner or later Messi will stop playing at Barca. The club will continue to win titles without Messi just as Messi will continue to be wonderful for many years if he leaves.
Luis Enrique, who is also the current Spanish national team coach said this ahead of the team’s match against Ukraine.
