Nigerian International, Afeez Aremu has completed a three-year transfer deal to German second division side; St. Pauli.

Afeez Arema joined St. Pauli from  IK Start Kristiansand after spending two seasons at the Norwegian club with 5 goals and assists in 63 appearances for the side.

The former Flying Eagles defensive midfielder said he is glad to join the club coring that he couldn’t resist the offer when it came.

I’m glad I’m finally here. When the offer came from St. Pauli, I didn’t have to think twice. It’s a big club and for me, the change is the next important step in my development. Now I can I can’t wait to get to know my teammates and start working. ”

St. Pauli’s Sporting Director; Andreas Bornemann also reacted to the signing of Aremu as he said he fits into the profile the club is looking for.

Afeez Aremu corresponds to the profile that we were still looking for for the defensive midfield. He brings athleticism and aggressiveness in duels and despite his young age has already gained a lot of professional experience. That’s why we believe that he will join us will not be difficult with us.”

Head coach Timo Schultz also added that Afeez is the kind of player the club has missed for so long.

“With Afeez we get an element that was missing in the squad so far. He is the type of dynamic ‘clearer’ that I wanted. He has already completed several seasons at a high level and is in his Age at the same time still capable of development.” 

Afeez Aremu played in Nigeria Professional Football League for Sunshine Stars, Rivers United and Akwa United between 2015-2018.
