Osimhen Hat trick Hero As Super Eagles demolish Benin Republic To Snatch World Cup Playoffs Ticket

Victor Osimhen put up a fantastic show on Tuesday night to help the Super Eagles secure a playoffs spot after taking apart Benin Republic.

Osimhen bagged a hat trick – his seventh goal of the campaign as Nigeria thrashed the Cheetars of Benin 4-0.

The Galatasaray striker put the Super Eagles ahead early in the game as he beat the offside trap to receive Chukwueze’s sublime pass before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

The 26-year-old striker doubles the lead before halftime with a powerful header from Chukwueze’s cross just before the be break.

Osimhen sealed his hat trick with yet another header a few minutes into the break to put Nigeria 3-0 ahead.

With the Super Eagles needing a goal to clinch the playoffs spot, substitute Frank Onyeka smashed home a rebound late in the game as the tie ended 4-0.

Onyeka’s goal clinched the playoffs spot as Nigeria finished as the fourth second-placed team in the qualifiers.

Nigeria will now contend with one of Cameroon, Gabon and probably Burkina Faso in the CAF playoffs.
