The 1988 European Cup (now UEFA Champions League) final was played between Portuguese powerhouse: Benfica and English giant Manchester United at the famous Wembley stadium.
Benfica were featuring in their fourth final having won two titles while the Red Devils were playing in their first ever final.
After a breath taking display, both teams settled for a 1 all draw after regular time.
However, Manchester United scored three goals in extra time courtesy of the late George Best, Brian Kid and Bobby Charlton to end the match in a 4-1 victory for the Red Devils.
