Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has been ruled out action for four weeks due to an injury sustained while on international duty.
Chukwueze sustained the injury in Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly match draw with Saudi Arabia on Friday at the Estadio Muncipal de Portimao.
Salman Al-FAaraj and Mohammed Kanno scored for Saudi Arabia while Kelechi Iheanacho’s strike and Abdulelah ‘s own goal provided the goals for the Super Eagles.
He was replaced in the 65th minute by Leicester City forward
Iheanacho in the game against the Green Falcons.
The AC Milan winger missed the friendly match against Mozambique three days later as a result of the injury.
It has now been confirmed on AC Milan’s website that he sustained a lesion to the femoral bicep. The injury usually takes about a month to be healed.
He is expected to miss the Rossoneri’s games against Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Udinese and Leece.
But he could be fit for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho on November 13 and Zimbabwe on November 20.
His compatriot Victor Osimhen also sustained an injury against Saudi Arabia and the Napoli striker has been ruled out for six weeks.
Chukwueze has scored four goals in 28 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He has made seven appearances in the Serie A this and has played twice in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.
The Super Eagles have been placed in Group A of the 2023 Afcon alongside Ivory Coast, Equitorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
The 2023 Afcon will take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.
