Shakira was raised a Catholic and while growing up in Barranquilla, she often performs for her teachers and fellow students in school but she was barred from joining the school choir in her second grade because her music teacher thought she had the voice of a goat because of her strong “Vibrato”

She is often referred to as the Queen of Latin American music not just because of her soothing voice but her all-round creative ingenuity in the art.

Shakira is a versatile artist and is her genre of music revolves around Pop, Latin Music and Rock. She also plays instruments like the Guitar, Harmonica, Drums among others.

Shakira is considered as one of the most successful crossover artiste having received huge acceptability in the English Market over the years. She made her first recording with Sony Music at the age of 13.

The Fijacion Oral album sold 157,000 copies in its first week. 

She went on to release two English albums, Oral Fixation Vol.2 in 2005 and She-Wolf in 2009 both of which attained gold, platinum and multi-platinum in some countries. Shakira’s career has spanned more than two decades with a catalogue of 145 songs and 80 million copies sold. She is a recipient of more of numerous awards which include three Grammy Awards, twelve Latin Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, thirty-nine Billboard Latin Music Awards, six Guinness World Records. She has also been named as the Female Latin Artiste of the Decade on two occasions, the 2000s and 2010s.

Shakira recently sold her 145 catalogues of songs to a UK-based art group, Hipgmosis but the detail of the transaction is unknown.

Shakira Relationship Status. 

She is the partner of Spanish Footballer, Gerard Pique and they have two kids Milan and Shasha who were born in 2013 and 2015 respectively. The duo met before the 2010 FIFA World Cup while Shakira was preparing for the Waka Waka song.

Shakira’s net worth as of 2021 is reported to be in the region of $300m as 2021.
