The Super Eagles have landed back in Nigeria after their win over Sierra Leone to qualify for Afcon 2023.
The Super Eagles beat the Leone Stars 3-2 on Sunday, June 18 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen scored in the 19th and 32nd minute to grab a brace.
Mohammed Bundu scored for the Leone Stars nine minutes later.
Kelechi Iheanacho was substituted in for Samuel Chukwueze and Kevin Akpoguma was subbed in for Bright-Osayi Samuel in the second half of the encounter.
Augustus Kargbo made the scores even in the 84th minute with a goal.
Iheanacho scored the match winner in the 95th minute to give Nigeria a 3-2 scoreline.
Their arrival was announced on the Super Eagles official Twitter handle. The team arrived the Murtala International Airport in the early hours of Monday.
The Super Eagles are first place in Group A with 12 points from five matches while Sierra Leone are third with five points after the same number of games.
Guinea-Bissau are second with 10 points from five games and Sao Tome and Principe are in last position with one point from the same number of fixtures.
Nigeria’s next game in the Afcon qualifying series will be against Sao Tome and Principe next on September 4 at the Abuja National Stadium.
AFCON 2023 will be in Ivory Coast between January 24 2024 and February 11.
