Super Eagles: Janne Anderson In Pole Position To Land Role As Heach Coach

Swedish manager Janne Anderson is currently leading the race to become the new coach of Nigeria men’s senior football team, the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles have been without a coach following the resignation of Finidi George at the end of June.

The ex-Super Eagles forward was in charge of the team for only four games – the last two being a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic and a one-all draw against South Africa during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Reports now suggest that Janne Anderson is tagged as the favorite to become the new coach of the national team with less than 21 days to the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Janne Anderson is a 61-year-old coach born in Halmstad, Sweden. His most recent engagement was with the Swedish national team as head coach.

Unfortunately, he failed to qualify the team for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup as well as the 2024 UEFA Euro tournament which was held in Germany this summer.

Janne Anderson is the latest manager linked to the Super Eagles head coach job after former Zambia and Cote D’Voire coach Herve Renard and former Malian coach Êric Challe were mentioned to be interested as well.

The Super Eagles will begin their quest to qualify for AFCON 2025 against a familiar foe, Benin Republic on Sepetember 7 at the Goodwill Akpabio Stadium.
