Super Eagles Prolific Duo Missing As Eric Chelle Releases Squad Lists For Unity Cup, Russia Friendly

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has released two sets of squad lists for the Unity Cup invitational tournament and the international friendly match against Russia.

Victor Osimhen and reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman will not feature in the invitational tournament and the friendly match having played to the latter stage of the season.

Osimhen helped Galatasaray win the Turkish Super League and the Turkish Cup while Ademola Lookman played a significant role as Atalanta qualified for the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, erstwhile captain of the squad, Ahmed Musa returns to the national team and will feature in the Unity Cup but not the friendly match.

Eric Chelle also handed an invitation to a few Nigeria Premier League players, including Nduka Junior, captain of the new champions, Remo Stars, Ikorodu City defender, Waliu Ojetoye, and Papa Daniel, among others.

The Super Eagles will take on Ghana on May 28th and Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago three days later in the Unity Cup in London.

Russia in host the Super Eagles in Moscow on June 6, as the team prepare for the next round of matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
