Victor Boniface, Tella Lift Historic Bundesliga Title With Bayer Leverkusen

Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella on Saturday lifted the historic German Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen have been declared champions since April but were presented with the trophy on the final day of the season.

The new German champions beat Augusburg 2-1 at home as they extended their unbeaten run to 51 matches and ended the league season undefeated.

The Super Eagles duo played crucial roles en route to the Bayer Leverkusen’s first-ever league title.

Boniface, despite missing 14 league games between January and March 2024 due to injury, had 22 goal contributions in 23 matches on the league.

The 23-year-old striker scored in the final day victory as he extended his tally to 14. He also provided 8 assists in the process.

Boniface capped his brilliant debut season with a league and the award of Bundesliga rookie of the season.

Nathan Tella on the other hand also had a decent debut season with the German champions.

The British-born Nigerian winger joined Bayer Leverkusen from Burnley last season where he won the EFL championship with The Clarets.

Tella scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 24 league matches while featuring mostly as a substitute.

Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella have now became the joint-sixth set of Nigerians to have won an European league with an unbeaten run.
