The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will resume in March, and the Super Eagles now know when they will take on the Amavubi of Rwanda and the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles will first travel to Kigali to take on Rwanda on 21 March at the Amahoro Stadium before taking on Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium five days later.
The dates for the key fixtures was announced on Tuesday’s official X-handle of the Super Eagles.
Work begins. Éric Chelle’s first two games as Super Eagles head coach will be the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers—Rwanda away and Zimbabwe at home in March. Let’s go Super Eagles!!!
The Super Eagles of Nigeria risk missing out on consecutive World Cup tournaments after a very disastrous start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.
Nigeria currently occupy the fifth spot in Group C with three points from their opening four fixtures. The Super Eagles played a draw against Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and South Africa before losing to the Benin Republic on 10 June 2024.
Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin Republic are joint leaders on the log with seven points each.
Ahead of the meeting against Rwanda, the Super Eagles are condemned to secure maximum points; otherwise, their chances of qualification further nose dives.
The last meeting between both sides ended on a disappointing note for the Super Eagles, as the Amavubi secured a famous 2-1 victory in November at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
New Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup either as group winners or second which qualifies the team for a playoff spot.
