Akor Adams has returned to Seville for pre-season training. Still, the Nigerian striker is yet to join his teammates on the pitch as his proposed move to Venezia edges closer to completion.
Adams worked out separately in the gym during Sevilla’s fifth training session of the week, under the guidance of head coach Luis García Plaza. The club is waiting for his transfer situation to be resolved before fully reintegrating him into first-team sessions.
Sevilla have set a €15 million asking price for the 26-year-old, a figure they lowered from an initial demand as high as €25-30 million. Venezia’s opening bid of under €10 million was rejected outright, but negotiations have gathered pace since.
Venezia’s sporting director, Filippo Antonelli, traveled to Seville for face-to-face talks with Sevilla officials. The two clubs are reportedly closing in on a fee that would represent Venezia’s biggest transfer in club history, well above the €6 million they paid Sporting Kansas City for Gianluca Busio in 2021.
Adams has already agreed personal terms with Venezia on a contract through June 2030, according to reports in Italy and Spain. That agreement has given the newly promoted Serie A club confidence to keep pushing Sevilla toward a deal.
The striker joined Sevilla from Montpellier in January 2025 and finished last season as the club’s top La Liga scorer, netting 10 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions. His form last term was widely credited with helping Sevilla avoid relegation.
Sevilla open their pre-season campaign against Juventud de Torremolinos on Saturday at the Jesús Navas stadium. Whether Adams features could offer the clearest signal yet on how close his Venezia move really is.
