Barcelona to appeal Messi’s 2-match ban
Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona have announced they will appeal the two-match ban issued to superstar player Lionel Messi.
Messi was sent off for Barcelona as they lost to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup final.
On Tuesday, January 19th the Competition Committee revealed that Messi’s actions shall incur a two-match ban.
The referee’s report said, “Striking an opponent with his arm with excessive force while the ball was in play but not within a playable distance.”
Barcelona are saying they will appeal to reduce the ban as it was the first time Messi was sent off in his Barcelona career.
