The Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in Seville, Spain for camping ahead of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
The team and its officials arrived at the Seville airport on Thursday afternoon as they begin preparation for the women’s football event at the summer games.
Coach Randy Waldrum, on Wednesday released his squad of 18 players for the football event. The list consists of a handful of players that represented Nigeria at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Unfortunately, midfield stalwart Halimatu Ayinde who was named in the squad has been ruled out of the Olympics after she suffered an injury.
The Super Falcons will take on Canada in a test match on July 17 before travelling to France.
The nine-time African champions are placed alongside Brazil, reigning world champions Spain and former champions Japan in Group A of the competition.
The Super Falcons will take on perennial underachievers Brazil in their first match on July 25 at the Matmut Atlantique stadium in Bordeaux before taking on Spain three days later in Nantes.
The final group game will be against Japan four days later at the Matmut Atlantique stadium.
After 16 years of absence at the Olympics, the Super Falcons will hope to navigate the difficult group as they look to consolidate on their impressive performance at the Women’s World Cup last year.
