Direct your bail application to Presidential Panel not me! – Police Chief tells Ibrahim Magu’s Lawyer.
Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police has told the legal counsel of former acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFFC), Tosin Ojaomo to direct the bail application of his client to the Presidential Panel.

The Police IG stated in a letter dated 14th of July that his client, Ibrahim Magu, is not being detained by the police but the Presidential Panel headed by the former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami (SAN).
The letter with reference CB:7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.489/171 titled, ‘RE: Application for bail,’ further says;
The Inspector-General of Police directs that your attention be drawn to the fact that the Nigeria Police Force is not investigating CP Ibrahim Magu (your client) and he is accordingly, not being detained by the police but by the Presidential Panel that is investigating the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
“The Inspector-General of Police, therefore, advises that you consider redirecting your request to the Chairman of the Presidential panel for appropriate attention.”
Ibrahim Magu has been in detention of the Panel since the 6th of July for various corruption allegations levelled against him.
