Osimhen’s Penalty Miss Extends Napoli’s Winless Run

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s penalty kick miss for Napoli against Bologna has extended the club’s winless run to three games in the Serie A.

The last time the club won an Italian league game was a 2-0 win against Sassuolo on August 27.

Napoli played out a 0-0 draw against Bologna on Sunday, September 24 at the Renato Dall’Ara.

Both teams had numerous chances to score in the encounter with the Naples based team totalling 12 shots and Bologna having four attempts.

Napoli also had 51 percent of the possession to Bologna’s 49.

Osimhen lost a glorious chance to score for his team in 72nd minute as he missed a penalty kick.

Giovanni Simeone replaced Osimhen in the 86th minute of the match. The Super Eagles striker had four shots in the game.

Osimhen has scored three times in five Serie A games in the 2023/24 season.

Napoli currently sit in seventh place in the Serie A standings with eight points obtained after five matches in the division.

Up next for Napoli is a Serie A clash with Udinese on Wednesday at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
