Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has given his opinion on the possibility of former striker, Odion Ighalo returning to the team ahead of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations as well as the World Cup in Qatar.
Gernot Rohr in a recent interview said that there is no reason not to welcome Odion Ighalo back into the team as long he is doing well at his club side.
He also added that the former Manchester United striker is an experienced player and it is up to him to decide if he wants to return to the team or not.
There’s no reason not to take him if he’s doing well. The question is if he wants to come back.
We hope so cos he’s an experienced player. He can be very useful to his partners. We’re waiting but firstly he has to play.
We have some new players who can be scouted, some are playing in Germany; one in Union Berlin [Awoniyi] – which is a good team. We have others who are in France; Lorient [Moffi].
We also have in Eastern Europe, Austria, Slovakia and yes we know all that they are doing.
Odion Ighalo last played for the Super Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where he finished as the top scorer with 5 goals.
