Three policemen feared dead as unkown gunmen attack police station in Delta State 2

Gunmen have reportedly killed three policemen during an attack on Nsukwa Police Divisional Headquarters, Aniocha South LGA.

It was learned the attack, which occurred around 1.00 am on Sunday, led to the collapse of parts of the roof of the police station.

Details of the attack were still sketchy as of press time.

It was gathered an uneasy calm has enveloped Nsukwa, a small agrarian community, following the attack with residents fleeing to neighboring communities.

It was also learned the gunmen, who arrived on foot, launched the attack from a thick forest behind the ill-fortified station.

Although identities of the slain policemen have not been declared, sources in the community claimed they include an Inspector, sergeant, and a Corporal.

The fate of a lone detainee at the police station remains unknown as of press time.

Sources in the community said that there were sporadic shootings that lasted for about one hour.

Several policemen have been killed in attacks in different parts of Delta State but no police station has been razed until this.

Delta Police Commissioner, Ari Ali, who declined comment said: “Speak with the police public relations officer”.

Efforts to reach the Delta Command image-maker, Bright Edafe, proved abortive as his lines rang out several times.
