Tragic: Man allegedly beats wife to death after she refused to him N2000 loan
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man identified as Christopher for allegedly beating his wife to death after she refused to give him N2000.
The unfortunate incident took place at their home situated at No. 1, Agbontaen Street beside Ebvareke Secondary School, off Agboniro Street, Uselu, Benin, Edo State.
Augustine, the eldest son of the family narrated how his dad always abuse his mother physically at the slightest production before the tragic incident happened.
He said his dad had earlier called his mum, who sells fashion materials for the 2000 loan which declined
He also revealed that his dad is notorious for his unrepentant habit of smoking and taking alcohol.
He said;
“Following the call, my father came home at about 9 pm and started beating her and accused her of always embarrassing him each time he requested for money.
After the beating, I tried to give my mother paracetamol and water she asked for when my father took the water and drug from me and threw them away.”
“It was after then she went out to pour water on her body and later lied down outside. My father locked us (children) inside the room and went out to pounce on her again where she was lying down outside, already weak from the initial beating.”
“That was when neighbors came and rushed her to two different hospitals where she was pronounced dead on arrival.”
