U-17 AFCON: Golden Eaglets to face Algeria, Tanzania, Congo; Coach Amoo vows not to underrate opposition
Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets will begin their quest for another AFCON title having been paired in Group B of the 2021 U17 African Cup Of Nations holding in Morocco from March 13 to 30th, 2021.
The draws on Wednesday paired Nigeria alongside Algeria, Tanzania and Congo for a spot in the knockout rounds and head coach Fatai Amoo has vowed not to underrate any team at the competition.
Reacting to the draws, Amoo said “With the draw, you can never underrate any country given the development that has come over the years and there no minnows as far as game of football is concerned, every country is moving forward and I think we have to work harder to see our team coming as one of the qualifier in that group
“I can’t say that Nigeria group is easy, I’m a professional coach and I know that if you underrate your opponent you will begin to lose touch.
“We don’t want to underrate any team but instead we are going to work harder and qualify for the next round of the competition.”
Nigeria, five-time World champion qualified for the championship after finishing as runners-up at the regional WAFU tourney in Togo.
In other groupings, hosts Morocco, Uganda and Coted’ivoire are in group A while group C has Cameroon, Senegal, Mali and South Africa.
