Nigeria-eligible winger Rio Ngumoha Makes History In Liverpool’s FA Cup Win

Rio Ngumoha Adigun etched his name into Liverpool’s history books on Saturday afternoon during the Reds’ commanding 4-0 win against Accrington Stanley at Anfield.

The 16-year-old became the youngest Liverpool player ever to start in an FA Cup match, showcasing his talent in a memorable debut.

Ngumoha wore jersey number 73 and started as a left-winger in Arne Slot’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

He was actively involved in Liverpool’s attack, nearly registering a shot on target in the first half.

The Anfield faithful were thoroughly impressed by the teenager’s composure and contribution, rewarding him with a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 72nd minute.

Ngumoha, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea’s academy last summer, has been impressive in recent weeks with his performances in training.

Since joining the Reds, he has tallied four assists across the Under-18 Premier League and the UEFA Youth League.

Born on August 29, 2008, the explosive forward is seen as one of Liverpool’s brightest young talents.

Ngumoha has Nigerian roots and he is eligible to play for the Super Eagles if he decides to switch allegiance in the future.

The winger could follow the footsteps of Alex Iwobi , reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman among a list of others who decided to play for the Super Eagles ahead of England.
