OTD in 2002, Ronaldo scores twice as Brazil beat Germany 2-0 to win the World Cup (video)
On June 30th, 2002 Brazil beat Germany 2-0 to win the World Cup.
The game was played at the International Stadium, Yokohama in front of 69,029 fans in attendance.
After losing to France in 1998, Brazil were favorites to win in Japan.
The first half ended without a goal but Brazil would take the lead in the 67th minute when Ronaldo pounced on a fumble by German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn who spilled Rivaldo’s shot.
Ronaldo scored his second of the game in the 79th minute when he curled past Kahn after a wonderful dummy by Rivaldo as Brazil held on fr the win.
It was Brazil’s fifth World Cup title which made them the most successful team in the competition.
