For Christopher Stowtoski, he indeed toed the path of his father as a music composer.  But he lived a very secluded life. We shall explore why in this piece.

Christopher Stowtoski is an American music composer and a businessman. Christopher Stokowski was born in New York, in the United States of America, in 1952 and is best known as the half-brother of CNN’s broadcaster, Anderson Cooper, sharing the same mother – heiress Gloria Vanderbilt.

Christopher pursued his education from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, a hamlet in New York, United States.

His father is Leopold Stokowski, one of the most famous orchestra conductors of the early and mid-20th century, known for his contributions to several projects, including the 1940 film “Fantasia”. His father’s third marriage was to Gloria Laura Vanderbilt who has always been in the spotlight from her youth, having a part in one of the most followed child custody trials of the time.

It is known that Christopher Stowtoski was an estranged member of the family for around 40 years because his mother interfered a lady named April Sandmayer. He was engaged to Sandmayer as at that time but due to a series of event, he started seeing his mother’s therapist. He later discovered that his mother’s therapist was spying on his relationship with his lover and making reports to his mother.

The issue exploded and soon his fiancée broke up with him, after which Stokowski halted communication with his mother and moved away from the house to try and win the love of April back but his efforts were in vain, and he left New York and told his family that he was never coming back. He was cut off completely and didn’t appear even after his half brother Carter’s suicide 10 years later.

Christopher’s mother passed away on the 17th of June 2017 at the age of 95. The major cause of her death was stomach cancer. She was diagnosed with the disease earlier in the month. Upon her death, Vanderbilt left her son, Anderson Cooper, almost her entire estate, which was valued at less than $1.5 million.

However, he reconnected with his half-brother in 2016.

Career

As regards his career, here is very little information about Stokowski’s work history as he has been away from the limelight since 1978. However, it is believed that he is a classical musician who works under an alias which does not let him receive direct credit for his job.

Net worth 

Even though he reunited with his mother before she died,  Christopher Stowtoski didn’t inherit anything from her fortune because he had been away for about four decades. Instead, her mother willed her fortuned to bid first son, Leopold Stokowski and 4th son Anderson Cooper. She gave Leopold her midtown Manhattan quarters valued at $1.2 million, which was the most valuable possession she owned. She left her remaining estate valued at a little less than $1.5 million to Anderson Cooper.

However, Christopher Stowtoski is said to be worth about $2m. His primary source of income is his political and business career.
