#AMVCA2020: Reactions as King of Boys returns empty-handed

The 2020 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) was held on Saturday, March 14th at the Eko Hotel with winners emerging in 28 different categories.

The trend on Twitter, however, is about the popular movie King of Boys that dominated the cinemas in 2019.

The movie nominated in four different categories did not win any award and several Nigerians have taken to social media to voice their displeasure.

Many are of the opinion that veteran actress Sola Sobowale should have won the biggest prize for her outstanding performance in the King of Boys movie.

Many are of the opinion that it was the biggest movie in the country last year so much so that veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo was shocked that popular musician Remilekun ‘Reminisce’ Safaru did not emerge winner in his category for his role in the movie.

“I barely see movies tbvh , worse with Nigerian movies , I saw king of boys twice and was willing to see it a third time . Sola Sobowale didn’t deserve this robbery by the organisers . King of boys had a strong message & brilliant rendering .
