Phil Mitchell begins 2022 in turmoil as the mechanic takes drastic action to go on the run in EastEnders. 

In Tuesday’s upcoming episode, the gangster, played by Steve McFadden,  will get new identities for himself and son Raymond in a bid to flee Albert Square.

Phil was left traumatised after ex-lover, Denise revealed he wasn’t allowed to see their son until after the New Year.

The hard-man decided to take matters into his own hands after making the discovery which left him full of rage.

However, just like every other day on the notorious square, the local gangster is unaware the police are set to make their move on him.

The businessman’s fortune started going downhill at Christmas.

After having spent some quality time with his son, things took a turn when his love interest Kat got wind of what was going on.

The following day, Phil’s ex, Sharon became suspicious of Kat’s distracted behaviour, forcing her to reveal the truth.

With the fiery businesswoman telling Sharon that Denise grassed up Phil to the police over Vincent’s death, they made plans to arrest him.

On overhearing the conversation, Phil then went on to confront Denise who retaliated by revealing the police are coming for him any day.

Fearful for her ex-husband, Sharon told Phil he had no choice – he had got to go on the run.    

This episode airs on Tuesday 4th January at 7:30pm on BBC One.
