Carol Vorderman steps in to front Lorraine as show host Lorraine Kelly reveals ‘Covid has got me’

Carol Vorderman has stepped in to host Lorraine Kelly’s daytime TV show after she tested positive for Covid over the weekend. 

The Scottish presenter, 62, announced ‘Covid has finally got me’ in a tweet on Monday as Carol, 61, took over presenting duties on the ITV breakfast show.

Carol wished the regular host a ‘speedy recovery’ after being introduced by Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid and Ed Balls in what appeared to be a last-minute stand-in.

‘Sadly Lorraine has caught the dreaded you know what, and I’m sitting in for a few days here,’ she said. ‘But we are wishing her a speedy recovery.’

The presenter then quipped: ‘I didn’t look like this at five o’clock this morning, that is for sure!’

Carol lit up the room in a canary yellow blouse featuring stylish cut-out detailing around the neck.

She teamed the summery number with a khaki bodycon skirt and styled her voluminous platinum tresses straight.

The former Countdown presenter sported a glam make-up look as she told viewers what to expect from the show.  

Lorraine announced that ‘Covid has finally got me’ with a tweet on Monday.

Sharing the post with her 707,600 followers, the host penned: ‘Well the Covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend.

‘Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon. Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back.’

Carol shared a series of snaps on Instagram on Monday writing: ‘So a bit of a surprise this morning. Wonderful Lorraine is a bit poorly with the dreaded Covid so I’m keeping her seat warm on her show for few days until she’s better’

Carol shared that she will be taking over hosting duties while ‘The Boss has a welcome rest’. 

The star flaunted her ample assets in a figure hugging tank top as she posed for a series of sunny snaps in a post to Instagram on Sunday.

Writing to her 228,000 followers, the blonde beauty outlined her productive day.

She penned: ‘CRACKING DAY…6am Lovely 6 mile walk in the woods in the cool of the day…10am great breakfast meeting at @mitrehamptoncourt for all things podcasty….news imminent…Time for a chilling out sesh now.’
