‘I’m devastated’: CMT Awards host Kelsea Ballerini reveals she’s tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t be attending in-person

  • The 28-year-old singer shared an update on Instagram hours ahead of the live show where plans are in place for her to still co-host from home 
  • ‘A couple of days ago I tested positive for COVID and the CMT Awards are tonight, so unfortunately I cannot be there in person anymore,’ she said 
  • Kelsea said she was ‘devastated’ by her diagnosis, but had ‘good news’ as she was ‘already feeling better’ despite contracting the disease 

Kelsea Ballerini tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be able to host Monday night’s CMT Awards in person.

The 28-year-old singer shared an update with her fans on Instagram hours ahead of the live show where she revealed the positive diagnosis, but with plans in place to still host from home.  

‘Alright friends, I have some bad news, and I have some good news,’ Ballerini said in a video. ‘The bad news is that a couple of days ago I tested positive for COVID and the CMT Awards are tonight, so unfortunately I cannot be there in person anymore.’

Kelsea said she was ‘devastated’ by her diagnosis, but had ‘good news’ as she was ‘already feeling better’ despite contracting the disease.

‘The incredible CMT team and my team have bought part of the CMT set to my house, to my little bubble, and set it up to where I can still host and perform,’ she said.

‘It is certainly not what we had expected or planned for, but we are doing our damn best. … Let’s make some lemonade together out of these very bitter lemons.’
