Yoruba Monarchs in the Benin Republic met on Sunday according to reports ahead of Sunday Igboho’s second court hearing in Cotonou on Monday.
Monarchs present at the closed-door meeting are Alajashe of Ajase from Port Novo, Alajohoun of Adjohoun, Onikoyi Abesan, and Oba of Seme were all present at the meeting.
Recall that Chief Sunday Adeyemo otherwise known as “Sunday Igboho”, the Yoruba Nation activist, was arrested alongside his wife, last Monday by the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou en route to an European country.
The meeting of the Obas which took place at the palace of the Alajohoun of Adjohoun is understood to be an effort to see Sunday Igboho remain in Cotonou as opposed to being extradited to Nigeria.
The Yoruba Nation activist has been in the custody of police authorities of the West African country but he was in court last Thursday before the hearing was moved to Monday 26th of July.
