Natalie Portman’s co-star Chris Hemsworth had her vegan diet in mind while shooting Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love And Thunder, which hit theaters last weekend.

During an interview with UK’s Capital FM, the actress revealed that the Australian hunk abstained from eating meat ahead of their kissing scene.

‘He’s really nice. The day we had a kiss scene he didn’t eat meat that morning because I’m vegan,’ she told the outlet.

She joked that that was no easy feat for Hemsworth since he bulks up for the superhero films by eating ‘meat like every half hour’ on top of his grueling workouts.

Jokes aside, the Black Swan star recalled being in awe over Hemsworth’s thoughtfulness especially since she’d never asked him to forgo his carnivore ways for her.

‘Like, that was so thoughtful. That’s not something I’m angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He’s just a very nice person,’ she gushed.

Portman became vegan in 2011 after decades of vegetarianism. Unlike a vegetarian diet – which is absent of meat – a vegan diet is devoid of meat and animal products like dairy, eggs and honey.

Like Hemsworth, the vegan star was asked to bulk up her famously petite physique for her character Jane Foster’s transformation into the Mighty Thor.

It was the first time that the Academy Award-winner had been asked to gain weight for a role, and previously revealed that she lifted weights and drank protein shakes in order to get into superhero shape.

She is said to have trained for ten months to get into her character who is meant to stand six feet tall – nearly 10 inches taller than her than her 5’3″ height.

‘I definitely got as big as I’ve ever been,’ she added. ‘You realize, “Oh, this must be so different, to walk through the world like this.’

She added with a laugh: As a five-foot-three woman, I don’t know that I’m ever going to be cast again as a 6-foot character. I really relished people seeing me as big.’

Portman compared the process to her Oscar-winning role in 2010’s Black Swan, where she famously lost 20 pounds through diet and exercise, but now found herself having to put on weight and gain muscle.

‘On Black Swan, I was asked to get as small as possible,’ she reveals. ‘Here, I was asked to get as big as possible. That’s an amazing challenge – and also a state of mind as a woman.’

The best: 'Like, that was so thoughtful. That's not something I'm angry about or care about, but he was just being thoughtful. He's just a very nice person,' Portman gushed

Portman’s epic superhero transformation also went down well with her children – Amalia, five, and Aleph, 11, who she shares with husband Benjamin Millepied – who were thrilled to see their mother in action.

‘I feel like it’s the phase of my career where I’m really trying to just impress my kids,’ Portman told Variety.

‘My 5-year-old and my 10-year-old were so enthralled by this process, getting to visit the set and see me dressed up in a cape. It made it really cool. You know, it’s very rare that my kids are like, “Please go to work!” Usually, it’s quite the opposite.’
