The 11-track debut album was partially written by Novoselic and Cameron, while Raye penned the lyrics, and Jack Endino, who produced the 1989 Nirvana album Bleach, mixed the recording, Billboard reported.

The record, according to the music outlet NME, ‘sports a broad tonal palette – it leans heavily on classic grunge and alt-rock flavors, but adds diversity with hints of laidback folk and indie-rock, swampy blues and stomping hard-rock.’

The album includes tracks named Dead Sea, Winter Solstice, Right Stuff, Diamond In The Cold, I Choose Me and Lies Fade Away.

The group did not publicly announce their formation or album until its release Monday. In February, Novoselic took to Twitter with a message he subsequently deleted that read: ‘I am really busy trying to finish a record. But it’s a secret, so don’t tell anybody!!!’

The debut album has been released on streaming services; a statement on the band’s website said that ‘reports coming over 3rd Secret hotline that album is still not on Apple Music.

‘Please be patient as work was uploaded Saturday night and needs time to get to streaming platforms. We kindly recommend listening on YouTube ‘I Choose Me’ for this song and the others from the album, until your preferred service catches up.’

The group thanked media outlets for ‘all of the coverage’ of their debut, and said it was ‘nice to hear the reporting refer to a “Supergroup,”‘ adding, ‘We’ll take it!!!’

The musical ensemble also played a secret show at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture, which Cameron posted an image of on Instagram Sunday.

Thayil said in an interview with Lifeminute in March that he was open to collaborating with Soundgarden bandmates Cameron and Ben Shepherd.

Soundgarden, which was active between 1984-1997, and from 2010-2019, was renowned for hits such as Black Hole Sun, Spoonman and Fell on Black Days. The band’s famed frontman Chris Cornell died of suicide in 2017.

Pearl Jam, which was founded in 1990 and remains active, is fronted by Eddie Vedder and responsible for classics such as Even Flow, Jeremy, Daughter and Last Kiss.
