A woman has tragically died after being knocked down by a taxi while on an early morning walk in Melbourne.
The 62-year-old woman was walking along Dandenong Road in Oakleigh in the city’s southeast at about 4.15am when she was hit.
The Oakleigh woman sadly died at the scene.

The taxi driver, a 49-year-old man from Huntingdale, was uninjured and is currently speaking with authorities.
The Princes Highway inbound is expected to remain closed for hours as police investigate the circumstances of the crash.
The woman’s death marks the 135th life lost on Victorian roads so far this year, compared to 117 this time last year.
